Floodlit
FLOODLIT is a 2013 son of STREET CRY (IRE) out of LIMINA (AUS) who was unraced as a racehorse.
He was officially retired from Godolphin’s racing program in 2018 after which he enjoyed a spell before being rehomed to Paul Khan as a horse to be retrained to tackle a western discipline, Reining. Reining is a sport that came from the old western culture where horses were a vital part of every working livestock ranch. Reining involves the rider guiding the horse through precise pattern of circles, spins and stops mimicking the skills and abilities necessary in the working ranch horse.
Paul visited Godolphin Woodlands in 2019 and immediately fell in love with FLOODLIT. His temperament, confirmation and thicker build was everything that he was looking for in a retired racehorse. In 2022 FLOODLIT and Paul stepped out to their first Reining competition to take out first place in his class!
Thoroughbreds are a versatile breed and Floodlit certainly demonstrates this well in his ability to perform in Reining. One of Paul’s main aims in retraining and competing FLOODLIT is for him to be available to others to ride and learn the sport of Reining.
